When did you start working at the company?
Thirty years ago, I started my journey at Louvolite in the Sub-Assembly Department. This experience gave me a solid understanding of the manufacturing process and really sharpened my focus on detail and quality.
Working in Sub-Assembly was a great hands-on learning experience and set the stage for my growth within the Company. As the years went by, I was able to take on more challenging roles which have shaped my career here.

How far have you come since you started?
During my time at Louvolite I’ve navigated through various roles including Despatch Clerk, Fabrics Cutting Room Office and the Order Office, eventually becoming the Order Office Manager. After that I took on the responsibility of General Manager of Finished Goods where I managed the Blinds, Stores, Packing & Cut Lengths, Logistics and Swatch Departments.
Last year saw another development in my career when I also became the General Manager of SLX Blinds Ltd in Ireland, not long after Louvolite acquired the business. Leading SLX, I have used my experience to help us grow and further develop the strong presence SLX has in Ireland.
Working across different departments has allowed me to establish a well-rounded understanding of our business and how it all fits together. From the hands-on work in Sub Assembly to handling fabrics, managing orders and building customer relationships, I’ve learned a lot about how our various departments interact. Plus, developing strong connections with colleagues throughout the Company has really solidified my personal growth.
In June 2024 I was invited to join the Board of Directors as Operations Director which is an achievement I’m very proud of and excited to undertake.

What progress have you seen for women in the industry?
I’ve seen more and more women progress through Louvolite over the years and it’s been great to see women being recruited into roles that have previously been male dominated. I’m proud of the progress I’ve made in my career and I’m lucky that gender was never a barrier for me at Louvolite. It’s hard work, loyalty and the ability to make a difference that has driven my growth in the Company.
Looking ahead, as a new female Director, I hope to inspire and encourage the next generation to aim high and reach their goals. We need to support and nurture open-mindedness, humility and curiosity as our teams develop new skills, knowledge and confidence. This will help both their personal growth and the continued growth of Louvolite.
Are there any changes that you would like to see for the next generation?
In my new role I’m excited to inspire and encourage the next generation to be ambitious and go after their goals which will help Louvolite continue to thrive.
This approach aligns with Louvolite’s strong commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where talent and ability are what really matter. By focusing on skills and expertise over gender Louvolite fosters a culture of fairness and equality while tapping into the diverse perspectives and strengths of its team. This not only gives us a competitive edge but also sets a great example for the industry as a whole.
