Component General Manager

We are recruiting for a Component General Manager, based at our Ashton Road site in Hyde.
As our Component General Manager, you will report directly to the Components Production Director. You will be responsible for the day to day running and efficient manufacturing, assembly, stocking and quality of all component parts associated within the company’s portfolio of products. Managing staff across all functions within production.
The main responsibilities of the role are to assist the Components Production Director in every aspect of running the Component Manufacturing Division. The role is to oversee and create scheduled plans for the efficient running of all departments within the Components Division. A ‘hands on approach and can-do attitude’ is essential together with the ability to manage human and material resources, to ensure production targets and objectives are achieved, utilise our internal stocking system for production planning / scheduling throughout all departments.
The successful person must have a strong background within a manufacturing environment. Good communications skills together with experience of production planning, supply chain management, monitoring sales orders/stock, forecasting for future demand of new and existing products is required. Proficient in Microsoft package inc. Excel and outlook.
Advantageous skills/experiences would include the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to ensure that all manufactured goods comply with the Company’s quality standards, an understanding of the Injection moulding process and Mould tooling, good negotiation skills and an understanding of Lean Manufacturing however full training will be given.
If successful you will complete a six-month probation period.
Main Purpose Of The Role
• Assist the Components Production Director in every aspect of running the Component Production departments. Responsibilities include the efficient running of Injection Moulding, PVC Extrusion, Press Shop, Paint Line, Automated Assembly, Urban Shutters, Sub Assembly, Quality Control and material warehouse. • Assist the Components Production Team to ensure that all manufactured goods produced within the component departments are of an acceptable standard, comply with drawings, and meet the company’s quality requirements. • Overseeing the production process in all departments, drawing up production schedules, monitoring and adjusting as needed. • Manage material resources and staffing levels to meet production targets.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
• Co-ordinate the day-to-day running of the above departments, together with the sub department leaders, to ensure production programmes and targets are met. • Plan a production schedule for all relevant departments within the components division. • Implement and control the production schedules, reviewing and adjusting the schedules to meet demand. • Advise on equipment use, maintenance, modifications and procurement. • Implement standard operating procedures, ensuring these are always adhered to. • Implementation and adherence to Health and Safety, ensuring that all staff work within the company’s Health & Safety and other policies. • Assist with setting up quality standards for existing and new products. • Monitor quality standards. • Analyse production efficiencies and quality, prepare and maintain production/KPI/quality reports. • Implement procedures to continually improve production processes. • Monitor and review staff performance. • Utilise stock system for production planning, maintaining agreed stock levels or to meet specific customer orders. • Carry out disciplinary procedures in accordance with the Company Policy. • Assist with new product development & alternative material development. • Raw material stock control. • Maintain sufficient stock of manufactured components. • Stock control of all WIP throughout the production departments. • Identify staff training requirements. • Oversee departmental staff and machine efficiencies. • Liaise with Engineering Manager with aspects of tooling modifications and repairs. • Working with the Facilities Manager, ensure machine PPMs are undertaken to agreed frequency plan and manufacturers recommendations. • Implement department Risk Assessments and liaise with Health and Safety. • Liaise with Q.C. manager on all issues involving component production.
Essential Criteria:
• Strong manufacturing experience. • Strong communication skills. • Experience of production planning. • Experience of supply chain management. • Experience of monitoring sales/stock and forecasting. • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Package.
Desirable Criteria:
• Engineering principles and practices, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings. • Knowledge of Injection Moulding/Extrusion processes. • Negotiation skills. • Lean manufacturing principles.
